Well 4:30am comes very quick if you go to bed at 11:30pm. But I had kokanee fever and had to get out and get some more of those footballs from American Lake. I was on the water and starting to fish by 6am. I don’t have lights on my little boat so I didn’t get out there as early as others.
I chose a new Dick Nite dodger to try. Brass Chartreuse Tractor Tread UV Dodger. I thought it accentuated the Gilded Lily quite well. So did a couple of kokanee. The other was Dick Nite Chrome Clown Scale UV Dodger and again it had the Gilded Lily on and 1 Cutthroat liked it as well as a kokanee.
I found out today because I lost it, that the kokanee are heavy enough that being out of the water can tear the hooks out of its mouth. I tried to lift and slide the fish into the net and watched them come away from the mouth. I caught all of them in the first hour. 3 kokanee, 1 cutthroat, 1 lost kokanee, and 2 drive bys. I found that my battery is only good for 3 hours of trolling now. I left about 9-9:30.
I caught them around 24 feet down and up. One took it out of my hand before I had it in the clip.
It was nice saying hi to all those out there! You know who you are.
