Headed out with a friend for moral support and to be the chief knot tie'r and head worm torturer. Since the surgery I haven't been able to get out much so I don't have my license this year and she had her two pole endorsement. The water is still down a good 7-10 feet from normal. Checked the solunar calendar and it looked to be a good bite from 5:30-7:30pm. We got out a little late and there were two boats, one trolling and the other pitch casting up in the North end channel area. They didn't catch any while we were there but there was some missed surface action. We were just to the right of the handicapped parking sign on the bluff. Soon after we got there an old gentleman to the left of us hooked up on an unknown bait and got a decent 13-14" rainbow.

I had to work with what my friend had at her house, so that was 20lb neon yellow FireLine as mainline and 8lb no-name mono for leader on two mish mashed rod/reel combos(definitely NOT optimal). I set her up with the standard egg sinker/swivel slip rig with a nightcrawler on one rod, and various powerbait on a #14 gold treble on the other. The rocks seemed to eat most of the worms and tackle on the first setup and it didn't really seem to get any real action.

Started the other pole off on 3 chartreuse garlic power eggs set up as a cluster and didn't any action. After a while I swapped her over to extra scent chartreuse glitter turbo dough. We got some good action on that, but due to being at least 15' above the surface on the bluff and her inexperience, she hard a hard time determining when she saw the slack come out of the line and the fish taking the bait, to reel down and set the hook. We had several good take downs but she just didn't have the feel for it yet. I have no doubt if we would have had my gear with me and I let her watch me hook up with a few, that it definitely would have been decent action.
