Wow what a good early season Kokanee bite on American Lake! The morning start out slow but as the sun warmed the fishing improved rapidly. We located some fish along a depth contour and hooked 2-3 every pass, averaging a fish every 10 minutes or so which made for a great day of fishing. We ended the day with 9 Kokanee ranging from 13-14.5" and two Rainbows.

Gear- Everything! we caught fish on spinners and hoochies in all different colors. all pulled behind Dick Nite dodgers and Macks Double D dodgers. Scents were Pro-cure Kokanee special and Dick Nite DNA. Shoepeg corn on the hooks.

Speed- They wanted it fast today with speed of 1.7-2.0 being most effective

Depth- 5-25' all caught fish with around 12' being a hot depth.


I have dates available during the next two weeks, lets get out and catch some Kokanee!
