Finally, a day off! Decided to do a little exploring and try a new lake. Arrived at 9:30 after making the mistake of trying to get to the lake from Oso (I hit a steep, gravel road that required me to back down 100ft and turn around- always fun with a 16ft boat in tow.) Anyway, the lake is beautiful. Despite being about 75% developed, there is lots of trees and high bluffs surround the lake. The launch is good, drops off OK for larger boats. Good parking area, although may fill up on summer weekends. I started trolling the west shore with a variety of my favorites at depths of 25-35 ft in 35-60 feet of water. The water was calm with occasional rain squalls, temps in 50s. Had no luck, moved over to the islands on the north end of the lake. Again, no luck. I switched to a large orange rapalla for the heck of it and promptly caught a nice 12" cutthroat at 35ft on the rigger. First fish I ever caught with that lure. That was it for the day as the squalls got a bit more intense, things got colder, and I bailed.
