Decided to take my little porta-bote out on this lake for the first time. Weather was overcast with a few sun breaks. Met up with a fellow fisherman I had met at Long Lake a couple of weeks ago and invited him to join me to try some trolling. We trolled for about two hours, never had a strike. Got a good drenching as we were getting ready to head back to the boat launch, a cold might end up being the only thing I "catch"! Well, I'll try again maybe in March, unless someone else posts a good report sooner.

Hi Alicia! Yeah I know what you mean, work has been insane for me too, but I had to get out and try a little fishing today. Hope you and Danny can join me soon, would love to get you guys out with me on my boat once the fish start cooperating!

Great report. I was curious if there was much shore access on the lake?

Not much Malottguy, as far as I can tell it looks like most of the shoreline is private property. There is a decent boat launch on one side and a much steeper more primitive one on the other side of the road to the lake. Everywhere else seemed to pretty much be private, so I would say that you probably need to have a boat if you intend to fish this lake.

The boat launch access is pretty good compared to most local lakes. Probably about 100 yards of shoreline to fish. You can also park up by the bridge and mountain-goat your way down to the bank below. Its a good bottleneck to fish if there isn't too much boat traffic. The access road to the launch is on a peninsula and there is a small access area across the street from the boat launch parking area. The water drops off quickly there and i haven't had much luck fishing on that side.

A friend and I went out on St. Clair last weekend and trolled SLOW using green wedding ring long-lined with 1/8 oz sinker clipped on a 3-way swivel to get the bait down. Tipped the hook with 1 1/2 inch of crawler. Caught one 11 inch rainbow and a 7 or 8 inch brown. We were the only ones who caught anything that we saw.
