Fished from 1 to 3. Tried first one rod with power eggs and spinners on the other rod.

I just got a new reel (Okuma rtx) and I was excited to try it out. It is smooth as margarine, not life changing but definitely a good value for how light it is. I got it paired with a cabella UL rod which I liked before and now it broke at the tip while I was casting. I never had a rod break while casting. Lesson learned: don't ever buy a cabella rod.

It was sunny and calm in the beginning and then it started raining and being windy. Since I got no hits on the spinners and some neighbors had luck on power bait I put power eggs on both rods (one rod a bit shorter now). I kept trying different places and no bites.

The rain and wind lasted maybe 30 mins and then it was sunny again and calm. The didn't turn the fishing around so I left without any fish and had a nice walk around the lake with the family.

Nothing beats an ugly stick for durability, as far as trout go a $30 light ugly stick is hard to beat IMO, you can hike through brush, strap it to your pack etc, it's plenty good in most situations, and it's affordable.
