Started the day scouting the green but didn’t do much fishing, couldn’t find a hole that looked deep enough to hold fish and by the time I did it was time to leave to meet a bud who works close to American Lake and was getting off work early.
Fished American from 1-3:30 and caught 6 fish. Was happy to finally get the first kokanee out of American in my boat! It was a 14” inch buck starting to turn, it bit a red wedding ring baited with pink maggot and corn fished behind a pink splatter dodger at ~20’. Then a 2nd kokanee came on the same set up but this kokanee was chrome bright. We caught 2 more fishing the same rig, another nice buck starting to turn and another chrome bright fish. The chrome bright fish confused me a bit, have to guess they’re next year’s fish. Also c&r two 10-11” inch rainbows on a surface line fishing a red/green wedding ring baited with corn and maggot behind a pink splatter, one was quite pretty with vibrant colors, should have got a picture of it. Great quick fishing trip!
