Fished the lake with fellow WALakes member Mav186 with a mind to target cutts and perch. Started off trolling the East Channel using snap weights and Brad’s Mini Cutplug baits. Had just two strikes that didn’t stick to show for a couple hours. Switched to perch mode and tried several areas with no luck before ending up near the East Highrise of the 520 bridge. Trolled the South side making a couple of passes and ended up bringing a nice looking cut to the boat from 45 feet down. Just before we reached the east shore I hung up a downrigger and lost my weight on one of many submerged mooring lines in the area. Seems that there were a few new lines put out since I last visited, so keep an eye out for them if you fish the area. We then followed the east shoreline south and picked up a smaller cut right off the bottom in 50 feet of water. As we passed Dabney Point my partner spotted a good concentration of fish hugging the bottom so we marked the point and switched back to perch gear. Well we were able to confirm that the fish on the sonar were indeed perch and proceeded to haul up some good fish up to 11” from 45 to 40 feet down. The lure of choice was a Cabelas RealImage jigging spoon in white. The ½ ounce lure seemed to get more attention than the 1 ounce lure, but was a bit more difficult to keep near the bottom as the wind had kicked up and made if a little difficult to stay on top of the fish. After keeping a baker’s dozen we called it a day and headed back to the launch. The pressure was up the entire day in the 1028 to 1030 range and winds were light most of the time and out of the north. Still not a lot of bait showing up on the sonar, we did spot some while trolling the bridge but I think the lack of wind for the past couple of weeks has kept it spread out.
