My brother Dale took me out on Lake Tapps for my birthday. We both wanted to hook a tiger muskie, but I heard there were a lot of bass in there too. I brought my largest trout net for bass, and also grandpa's monster fish net for muskies. We hit the rims with casting in several recommended spots with mostly plugs. It worked nicely to slowly drift with my electric motor and fish/depth finder, stern mounted on Dale's ski boat. We spent much of the afternoon homing our skills on casting and had to add weight to lower plugs near the bottom. My bait casting reel took a bit of time to master, but now I love it! All day the fog stayed low, and it was pretty cool out there.
Just before dark, we gave up on the plugs and headed for the bridge. I found a small plastic, weighted fish that looked like a small perch in my box. Dale went for a silver spoon. On my second cast - Bam! fish on! It was a nice fight, but no muskie. I hailed for the smaller net. It was about a 2 lb bass. Unfortunately, the hooks were stuck in the net and my fishing was done. It might just be there forever. A minute later it was dark anyway and we returned home. It was a tasty fish, my birthday bass. Thanks Dale for the fun day on the water. Larry

No better way to spend a birthday! Belated happy one. Did you get the lure back from your net yet?

Yes, I was able to extract my lure, using 2 pliers. I now need new treble hooks, since they were hopelessly bent up during the extraction procedure.
