This day would have been a 5 star one even without any fish.

It all aligned very well, the weather was nice, heard about the 5000 trouts recently planted and my wife was taking my daughter to piano class.

I got to the lake around 1 and surprisingly very few people around my favorite spot. I talked to one fisherman and he already had a couple. I set up a rod with power eggs and started spinning a spinner on the other rod.

On my 3rd cast I feel a bite on the spinner and get a nice fat trout to the shore. Soon after that a friend comes over. He never fished for trout, he mostly fishes for bass. I help him set up his rod and off we go. While I got bite after bite and kept landing them my friends rod was quiet.

I felt bad especially since everyone around was catching fish after fish. I told my friend to get one of the more experienced guys to redo his setup (even thought I was getting action with a similar setup) and they set him up with a Greenlake tuned leader and bait.

His rod went back in the water and still nothing. I stopped spinning and transformed my 2nd rod for bottom fishing and basically switched rods. He immediately had a bite on my rod and he reeled in a nice one to shore. Big success, he was happy!!! He got one more soon after and then I had to leave.

In the end I got 3 on the spinner and 2 on the power eggs. Between of us we had 7 lb of trout (in about 2 hours).
