I will never understand how work can preempt recreation, but it has all summer. I was SO pleased to be on the lake and couldn't have asked for a better weather day. I'm guessing it was about 65-70 degrees F and a light breeze, but occasionally none. The sky was blue with a few clouds...truly beautiful. The park was uncrowded and little people noise. It made it a spectacular day doing what I love best. Oh yes, and the fishing was good too!

We started at 11:30am and had the boat trailered at 7pm. I would have loved to fish until after dusk, but had to get home and do some chores.

I will claim the high body count with 21 largemouths caught and released. I probably could also claim the big fish too with one LM about 2.5-3lbs and about 16". P. boated 15 fish - all LM, except one pumpkinseed. K probably had the most interesting day. He boated 8 largemouths, but truly lost the BIG one.

He was seated and started reeling sideways across his body. He was sure he had a huge pile of weeds. So sure that he didn't turn to look, nor stand up to play the fish. Suddenly P and I saw color and said, "That's not weeds! That's a huge fish!". K said, "You're BSing me." We assured him we were not and said "Look, look!" About that time he started to turn, and so did the fish....and left. It didn't splash or flash, but sort of just rolled over and was gone! Man it was huge!
Then for the next ten minutes, K kept asking if we were just teasing him. No!

Another time K was taking a really decent fish off and as it was flopping and he was reaching for pliers, he laid his arm on a lure on the gunnel of the boat. Its hooks poked him, he raised his arm and as he freed the fish his rod and reel went overboard. We tried for at least a half and hour to drag for it and look for it to no avail. Maybe P will dive for it next time we're out, (Where are the swimmers when you want them?)

What a memorable day and the best day of consistently good sized fish. Very few peeps were boated. We each lost about four and saw tons more including some nice ones. 44 fish is a good day no matter the size, in my book.
