Woke up early to go to Sammamish. Heard the sound of rain @ 6AM. Checked weather radar and decided to sleep in.
Woke up again a little before 9AM and rain has stopped. Looked at radar and it looks like rain wont hit the Sammamish area.
Anyways, 1st cast @ ~10:45AM. Cloudy and mild. I didn't technically catch any today, so I'm going to use the wife's definition of a catch. If it gets within rod length, it counts.
"Caught" a dink on a dropshot. Was dangling it at the side of the boat and I noticed it wasn't hooked. It just swallowed the lure and it was slowly sliding out, lol.
Next one was a decent SMB, ~16" or so. "Caught" on a Hula grub in ~18' of water. My first fish on my new combo that I originally had it setup for pitching/flipping. Then went to c-rig for a bit. Now it's a heavy jig setup. 1st fish on braid, so I was going to try a pro move and swing it into the boat. Yeah, didn't work out so well. Popped right off at the gunnel.
Caught numerous perch. So aggressive. They even strike where my line enters the water. A few didn't make it. They were barely bigger than my lure and the hook will hook their gills or through their brain.
Done by ~1:15PM. Did spot what I believe to be a Chinook helicopter doing something around the lake.
Oh, if the older gentleman in the white boat happens to be a WALAKE member. I'm sorry for cutting you off/poaching . Didn't see you. Fortunately I only stole about 5 mins of your fishing spot and going the opposite direction.
