Squatch and I hit Tapps this morning... got there around 6:45... glad we started late because we had no idea that there was a tournament going on this weekend... quick launch ... fired up the boat and did a little test and tune with the new prop... water wasn't to smooth so was only able to get to 54mph... still had another 300 rpm's to go... so figuring should do 58 with good conditions... fished an couple of different points in and around 18 to 25' between the 2 of use landed 14 smallies... none bigger then 2lbs...dropshot, shakyhead and texas rigged plastics were the ticket ...

A friend and I were there also, but we were armpit deep in the middle of all the tournament boats launching. We also had a good day, catching over 50 smallies between us, most in the pound plus size, with one that may have gone 3 lbs. Also had another Lake Tapps first. Caught a Yellow Catfish on a grub. Surprised the heck out of me.

good to hear that the fish were biting even with all the fishing pressure. I have weekdays off so I'll be out there this week. It's nice to be out there during the week with less people

We knew about the tournament in that the guy I was fishing with is a member of the Puyallup Hog Hunters who was putting on the tournament. But he decided he didn't want to fish in it. I haven't found out who won it, but I do know the leader after the first day had a little over 11 pounds of fish. My wife is leaving Wed. to visit relatives in California, and won't be back till Sunday night. Needless to say, I'll be on the lake Thur. through Sun. Maybe I'll see you out there. If you spot a grey mini bassboat with BassTender 11-3 on its side, stop by and say hi.
