Hit American for perch again today. Did pretty good, caught 22 nice fat ones with average of about 12 inches. All caught on plastics on the bottom or drop shot. No consistent location and that makes sense to me. I seem to find that the larger perch are not really schooled up but rather are scattered all around the lake in the mid depths- 15-40'. We had to work a lot of different areas to pick up 22 good ones. I tend to use larger lures for the perch than most folks do and that selects for larger fish. I did see some large schools of what I assume were perch on the depth finder but whenever I did, I would put the drop shot down to them and get a few pecks but no takers. Small ones. Caught a few feisty trout too with one cut around 2#. Only caught 3 small smallmouth and I was hoping to have my buddy catch a big one. Of course, we caught gobs and gobs of little rock bass. Again, all fish were caught on plastics in the 15-40' range. Favorite color is green pumpkin. Now I have a big pile of perch filets to cook up. Better get to it.
