Hello all.

It's been a while since I wanted to go fishing at Baker and despite the reports, I decided to go anyways. I went by myself on monday evening, camped at Shannon Creek and was in the water by 4:30am the next morning. Wow, what a beautiful place! I started by trolling around Noisy Creek at 15 - 20 ft deep on the riggers this early in the morning. No luck. At around 5:00am I realized I was surrounded by other boats. By 7:00 I counted over 60! Didn't think it'd be this busy on a tuesday. By 8:00am I saw the first net and fish caught on the bay East of the creek and those guys were fishing pretty close to shore. I tried the same with no luck. By 10:00 I decided to try the middle, away from other people and saw a second fish landed. Finally by 10:45 I decided to head back to camp, pack up and go home and not soon after that my rod lift and at that point I thought I had snagged on a drift wood but no, it was FISH ON!
Heart pumping hard, trying not to lose the fish, steer the boat with my foot away from all the other boats that all the sudden came and surrounded me, and getting the net ready all by myself was quite a task! Nice 5lb buck in the net and on the boat, what a relief! Got him at 60 feet of wire, 120ft bottom, road side between Swift and Shannon CG, pretty close to shore. No school showing on the fish finder. Tried another pass and decided to head back to camp.
I don't have a picture of my lure but it was a silver dodger, double red hook set up with a mini pink hoochie and a red smily blade. I also talked to a lot of people at the launch and only one other couple had fish. They caught 2 at around the same time as me but on the trail side. They've been camping there for a week and managing to get one or 2 fish a day. They were also fishing with a silver dodger and pink hoochie setup but their leader was much shorter then mine at about 8 to 10". Mine were all at 12" (thanks OCD).
Well, good luck to all that venture and if the fish isn't hot, at least you won't be disappointed by the surroundings!

Tight lines!

George

Do you guys ever fish Deception Lake for trout in your down time. A lot of nice trout in that little lake. Best spot is at the bottom of the dyke.
