Got started about 9:00 this morning. Fished until around 3:00. This is my 6th or 7th trip to the lake this Summer. Always have the same luck. Caught and released about 20 silvers each time out. They seem to range in size from around 8 inches up to about 15. I did catch about a 10 inch chinook today. The hatcheries transport adults above Riffe and put them in the upper river system. The hot ticket seems to be a Sling Blade flasher, 10-12 inch leader to UV Hootchie, either pink, or pink splatter, smile blade in front, double hook setup with a pink Gulp maggot on each hook. Fish off the downriggers, 60 feet back, between 30 and 70 feet down - 40 to 50 feet most of the time. Keep an eye on the sonar. Simply fish where you are marking fish. I even had some luck with wildlife photography. Had the fawn swim between my downrigger cable and fishing line - no joke. And saw a bobcat walking the shoreline - picture of this is poor due to zoom and rough water, but you can see he's there. Riffe is really an amazing lake to spend a day or weekend. If you can make it during the week, Mossyrock Park doesn't charge a launch fee, but it's only $5.00 on the weekends.
