Slept through the lightning show last night, but stepped outside to find that it rained last night. After so many hot days in a row, I thought the rain and cloud cover had to have brought in the bass closer to shore. When I got to Kirkland at 7, it was really humid out, and pretty windy.
Tied on my wobble head jig, made my first cast into 15' of water, and as soon as it hit the bottom... I feel it get smacked! YES!!! I swung hard into the hook-set... but didn’t connect! Damnit!
So I just kept the bait in place... waited for a moment... twitch... twitch... BOOM! There we go! Got the hook into him this time! Fish came popping straight up out of the water, head shaking, and then dug back down deep for a long fight in and sent my drag singing.
Got it to the dock, and the scale put it at 3.7 lbs. When I was bringing it in, I thought it was going to be bigger... but It’s been since May since I have caught any 3+, so I really cant complain.
Fished for another 30min after, got another good bite, but swung and missed. Doh.
I saw some BIG bass breaking the surface all over the place. I saw a couple jump way out deep, that looked big enough to be mistaken as carp. I bet I’m not the only one who will be posting up decent fish today.
Tight Lines,
