Headed out to Gissberg to do a little fishing before attending the seminars hosted by Cabela's on "Fishing for Pink Salmon". Arrived at 5:45 AM, fished the south shore.... tried about everything in the tackle bag... Power Eggs & Power Bait in assorted colors and with assorted scents... worms, spin-casting spoons and spinners... all produced nothing! No hits, no bites, no nibbles! Saw a handful of fish break the surface early, but no real action. Saw maybe 12 other fishermen out, did not see a fish caught. Left at 10:00 to get a good seat at Cabela's.
Did observe schools of 2" to 3" LMB feeding voraciously in the shallows, as well as lots of small sunfish. Was serenaded all morning long by the dozens of huge Bullfrogs that were in the shallows, everywhere... most of them doing x-rated things that propriety forbids me to speak of! Can only hope that the "Duck Dynasty" boys do not hear of the Gissberg Bullfrogs, or we are sure to have a Redneck invasion!!
Cabela's seminars were very informative, and judging by the attendance, we will see a lot of "elbow to elbow" fishing on the beaches and the river banks, not to mention the armada of boats in the bay in the next several weeks. The Pinks are headed our way! PTL!
