Cool cloudy morning. I figure the shallow bite would be on. WRONG, at least not for me, lol. Only fished for about 3 hrs today. I started fishing on the south western side of the lake. Looked super fishy with lots of fresh weeds. I had a fish on within 15 mins, but it was small and popped off. Probably perch. Spent about 30-45 mins in the area working the docks and started working out slowly into deeper water without another connection. Did feel numerous machine-gun pecking from those pesky perch on 90% of my casts.
I then boated over to the east side, middle of the lake and started fishing the big rocks and laydowns.
Highlight of my day was when I thought I got snagged in about 18' of water. So I pulled away trying to break my line when I felt my snag drifting with me.... I'll stop and try to reel, only to feel like it's snagged..... So I started moving back again and this time, I can definitely tell I'm dragging something. So I got right over whatever I had. Reeled with the rod pointed straight down and had to hold the spool with my thumb after a couple of rotations. Eventually I get it near the surface and see it's a HUGE tree limb. LOL. Had to have been at least 6' long and 5" in diameter. I was surprised my line didn't break at the knot. Only 12# test. It was too slick/dirty for me to grab for a pic. It did bend my hook a bit.
I went briefly to the west side of the lake again to look for a rock pile that's shown on my paper map. Couldn't locate it on sonar.
