Had to put a new relay on the big motor so we started late. hit the lake around 12:30 and was surprised by the lack of dock traffic. One guy who was just finishing told me the kokanee were biting like crazy on a yellow spoon by the weather station at about 40ft. so I tried that with one downrigger the whole time. not a single bite, lol.

on the other downrigger I ran traditional pop gear followed by a wedding ring tipped with a worm and ran it between 15-25ft the whole time. It caught two carp (never caught carp trolling before... that was odd) and one of the most beautiful rainbows I've ever seen.

When I got the rainbow all the way into the boat it occurred to me I dont know how many more opportunities there will be today... so i opened the bail and let it swim away... then told my son, hey FISH ON! He loved reeling it ( back ) in :D

so 3 fish on one rod in probably 2 hours. really not that bad considering I spent more time tending to him and his safety than fishing :) you guys get out there and do the same thing and i'm sure you'll catch twice as many. oh, and why am I fishing at 1 in the afternoon on a 90f day?? still catching though!


spent the rest of the day anchored up in a shallow area to make lunch in the cabin and make use of the swimstep. great family day.

Nice day out, Dustin... great pic of your son... a future hall-of-fame fisherman for sure! Looks like a great Cutthroat to me. PTL!

not gonna lie, that fish was very hard to ID for me and I had to give it a moment before I decided to kill or toss back to the water, I dont want to keep something if I dont know what it is but Im thinking maybe a very small steelhead to be honest! I keep looking at pictures of cutts, bows, and small steel and it definitely looks more bow to me. BUT I'm all ears if someone can help me with some misidentification!
