Had a fun day fishing at Green today with my friend Brian. Started fishing the aurora side around noon, after the heavy downpour came actually a really decent day for fishing. Caught a few little guys on the Aurora side, using a mixture of garlic and salmon egg flavor power bait (killer), but after the trips so c&r'd. Got some lunch at the valley and headed towards the wading pool side and found a nice spot right of the (always busy) rocky point. Within ten minutes, landed the first trip, and about an hour later, the second. Usually use my 8.5ft salmon rod for all fishing but tried a superlight 3.5 ft rod today, so fun! Makes these trips feel like coho! :) Oh, and thats the wooden alaskan beer tap we use to sleep the fish. Always a good day when he's sized up. Happy hunting, tight lines!

How long is the "wood shampoo"? As usual, when there is a picture with a report I look at that first. I was looking at the picture thinking, what the funk is that! To find out, had to read the story. funny!

It's my understanding that you can't C&R trout caught on bait... not trying to thread crap, OP, just asking to satisfy my own curiosity.

Not to harp on the OP as I would love to hear from someone who knows better than I, however from what I have read in the WDFW regulations you have you keep them if you caught them on live or artificial bait. Here is the excerpt from the regs : " Where use of bait is prohibited, or where lures or flies are used voluntarily, Game Fish may be caught and released until the daily limit is retained."

I also found this on http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/high_lakes/ : "Bait-fishing can be effective, using worms, eggs, artificial paste baits, or combinations. Bait can be dangled downward from a floating bobber or can float upward from a slip-sinker, both of which provide weight to cast the bait outward from shore. Bait-fishing should only be done when you plan to keep the fish you catch, since the fish tend to swallow the bait and hook, making injury-free release much harder. This is why fish caught while using bait count as part of your daily limit, whether or not you keep them. Also check to make sure bait is legal where you're planning to fish; some lakes have selective fishery regulations or other quality rules designed to improve survival and growth of fish."

I dont see nothing "illegal" about this fsihing report. As long as he and his friend didnt catch and release over 5 trout per person on bait, hes within his right to do so. You can release trout caught on bait, but it counts towards your daily limit. They do have a high mortalty rate, so it would of been better if they kept it and gave it to a neighbor. IF no bait were used at all, then the both of them could of caught and released 100 stocker trout to get those 2 triploids if they wanted too.
