Well took the family over to Winthrop for the weekend with high hopes of hitting Patterson for some kokanee sunday morning, ended up having way to much fun at Pearrygin!
We arrived at Silverline Resort located on Pearrygin Lake friday evening. We make it a habit to camp there a few times a year, very family friendly. Got camp all set up and talk to a guy out fishing on the dock and he had a few nice trout on the stringer so the girls wanted to fish there. We plunked some power bait and very quickly had 2 fish a piece to the dock, nice chunks bows! Then it was time for smores and some rest before taking the boat out in the morning.
We all slept in till about 7am the next morning, and i was worried that the bite might have been missed, wrong. I talked to two other guys that were getting in their boat and they said fishing had been "so-so" for trolling but good still fishing off the bottom. So i grabbed both my trolling rods and the spinning reels. When i motored out into the lake i noticed all the fish i were marking were between fifteen and twenty feet deep. So i took a pink splatter dick nite dodger and a pink hoochie spinner (24" leader" and sent it down to 15', instantly had a fish. I handed the pole off to my oldest and hurried and set the other pole, Pink/chrome Dick-nite dodger with a uv white hoochie spinner with a pink blade, and sent it down to 15'. By the time i netted the first fish the second rod was buried into the water. this continued for an hour, no bait no scent. We were back in camp by 8:30 with 13 fish (12"-15"), and I was quickly welcomed by a few fishermen that wanted to know what was on the menu!
I got to sneak out sunday morning for a bit before everyone woke up and it was a repeat of the morning before, fish after fish! I played catch and release for an hour and ended up keeping five that were bleeding and called it a day.
I am a die hard kokanee fishermen, and usaully I dont mess with trout, but i had a freaking blast this weekend. Watching the girls reel in fish after fish, and i even got to get a couple! and they fought so hard on the kokanee rods. The rest of our time in the Methow Valley consisted of checking out the shops, playing putt-putt golf, and enjoying some of the great food the local resteruants have to offer. Now for the fun part. the unpacking.
