I fished Cda for pike in the main lake as well as three of the chain lakes yesterday with fellow Washington Laker Mark K.
Thank you Mark for the fishing lesson. Mark had the hot hand releasing 9 pike on the day while I only managed 5 pike and 3 nice largemouth bass. Biggest pike of the day was Marks 28"er. He can post his own photos. I had no pike worthy of taking photos. The bass I released went 3lb 5oz, 3lb 1oz and 5lb 6oz. Not a bad day on bass considering I was targeting pike. My pike all came on the soft plastic frogs while Mark got the job done throwing the Johnson Silver minnow and a River2sea V Joint minnow.
Most fish were in 4 to 6 feet of water. Water temps ran from 62 to 66 degrees. Main lake temps were 64-66 degrees.
Cabbage is gorwing nicely everywhere. I think quantities of fish caught will increase once this years fry get a little bigger and learn to hide a little better. There were giant swarms of 1" long minnows everywhere. My guess is those are attracting the perch, and the pike are filling thier bellies on perch, making them a little more picky on what they are hitting. Plenty of action for a good day though.
