Took my dad fishing this morning for some perch. We had two in the boat in the first 15 minutes then it got very slow. We had some excitement when his pole bent over only to find a big catfish on the other end. It was fun none the less for my dad. We missed a few more perch and a few trout then the rain came. We got off the water just in time. We saw 3 other boats on the lake, two in the lily pads and one anchored right in the middle. We also saw some 20 bank anglers fishing off the road. Wish the weather would have been kinder. Both perch were 9 inches today. Lure of choice were wedding rings with a small piece of worm.
I was able to fish Cascade lake in Cascade, Id for some jumbo perch last weekend. It has been some 15 - 20 years since fishing Cascade and that was in the winter. We had the kids and were only able to fish a few hours. Perch measured in just over 12 inches. Fish were caught using wedding rings with a small piece of worm. From all the reports of this lake lately the perch fishing has been fantastic as well as the ice fishing this past winter. A long drive but plenty of camping available right on the lake. The fish in the photos were from Cascade lake.
My walleye fishing trip was canceled a second time at Rufus in April. 40 mph winds at 6:30 am. We may reschedule for January. Our guide Touché from Fly By Nite took two anglers out in January and I believe they caught 3 over 10 lbs with the biggest in the 17 lb range. That is the kind of fishing I am looking forward to.
Hoping to get out on the lake much more this year with my dad. Love to see more reports from Lake Roosevelt.
Tight lines.
