I went out Saturday morning with a few buddies to do a little scouting for Lake Trout. I had been giving the Lakers a pretty good break for the last month and a half or so while we were chasing Kokanee. We hit several spots and got a pretty good idea where the fish were hiding. We were just starting to think about pulling the rods in and calling it a morning with we got our final hit of the day! After a good battle we put the fish in the boat. She weighed in right at 14.5 lbs! Great way to end a day! The big fish hit a baited Ace Hi-Fly pulled tight to the bottom at about 1.4 mph. The Trench and Yacht club were the most productive for us this morning.

That is a beefy fish. How do you prepare them for eating? I have heard mixed results as far as a laker for consumption goes.

Nice fish Jerrod!! Moto as far as eating lakers they are pretty good on the BBQ, but they are really good smoked!! Use the dry brine recipe on Salmon University!!! Works great every time!

Thanks guys! Yeah Dustin I think we talked to you in front of the Yacht club. We were admiring your boat! That thing looks like a fishing machine! Glad you got into some fish! These guys nailed it on the cooking MotoBoat. They are fantastic smoked!! That's the best way to cook the big ones. The smaller fish that have been primarily eating shrimp have good pink meat and are great in the oven or on the bbq. My quick college recipe was always lay a fillet on tin foil, sprinkle some johnnys, garlic salt, onion powder, and maybe a little lemon on it. Wrap it up and toss it in the oven for about 30 mins (depending on size of fillet) at 350 degrees. Quick and easy!
