5/30/2013 5:44:00 AMWelcome to Washington Kelsey. First, Ohop is more of a largemouth lake, and from my experience it is VERY hit or miss. Rumor has it the the residents on the lake treat the lake to kill off weeds or something, so some times the whole lake will be affected for an entire year. However I did catch a 5 lb LM early last year there. If you are looking for small mouth, Lake Tapps is the place to go. Also I enjoy Lake Sawyer in Maple Valley/Covington area. Good luck

5/30/2013 5:59:00 AMI second Tapps for smallmouth. There is a lot of fish in there. My daughter and I caught over 30 smallmouth there two weeks ago, and that was the second time I've fished it in my life.

5/30/2013 8:01:00 AMThere are no fish in Sawyer, the beaver ate them all. Be sure to watch the WDFW vid in the thread in the Bass Forum. Then print out a map of the lake and look at the map while you watch the vid again and again. Then do what Clark does in the vid, you'll catch Bass, and in any lake that has Bass. Then send me a PM and I'll show you the lake. Maybe Clark or Austin will be out there and he/they can show you stuff also.

5/30/2013 11:04:00 AMWelcome to WaLakes. Tapps is a great smallmouth fishery.If your looking for a smaller lake,Pierce County's Clear lake is an excellent choice and also holds largemouth. Another excellent largemouth fishery is Lake Kapowsin,I fish here pretty often when taking a break from muskies.Its an excellent warmwater/spiny ray fishery that holds largemouth bass,bluegills,pumpkinseeds,perch,rock bass and crappie. I typically toss a white spinnerbait with willow blades and do relatively well but many options will work.Just watchout for the stumps,Kapowsin is LOADED with timber and often times on windy days,downed trees/logs breakoff from the shore and begin drifting in the open water.Over the years I've seen many boats damaged,over turned and even a few that sank due to boaters opening up the throttle. I just use an electric motor and haven't ever had any problems. Anyhow,I'm rambling but welcome aboard and if you have any questions,feel free to ask.Good luck out there this season

8/18/2013 11:18:00 AMI second kapowsin. I fish there all the time around the lilly beds using a top water frog and nail the large mouths, just landed two three lb and a 5lb yesterday.... awesome lake.

7/13/2014 5:40:00 PMthis is really late and i dont know if youll see it but try lake tanwax for largemouth. Skipping senkos underneath the docks works great. use Green pumpkin color. This is everybodys go to lure for this lake. For smallmouth i dont know any lakes in this area but i know eastern washingtons banks lake and other lakes out there have great smallmouth fishing.
