Got on the lake with Kyle, my first mate, at about 6am, lots of boats and lots of wind and rain.Saw lots of schools but nothing would take. Kyle finally got a little one on the the flat lined rod at about 20 ft deep in 60 ft of water. Soon after, I saw my rod tip boinking on the downrigger, I grabbed the rod and jerked it off the clip and was surprised to see that this fish had some girth and some fight. I got it to the boat finally, and as Kyle was netting it (with my 18 in net), we noticed it was a lunker rainbow. It was too big for my tiny net and threw the hook as we missed the net. How big do the trout get on this lake? This was the biggest rainbow I'd ever seen. I know all fishermen stretch the truth a little bit, especially about fish not landed, but if I were to guess, I would say this fish was well over 24in, closer to 30. Is that realistic? Anyway, the rest of the day we landed one more decent size Koke and headed in about 1:30. Kokes hit on a purple Dick Nite dodger and a wedding ring, and a 50/50 green silver Dick Nite dodger with another wedding ring with shrimp scent and shoepeg corn.
List of things needed: Bigger net :D

Thanks for the report! I fished Stevens on Wednesday and got the same thing. No kokanee but a nice rainbow at about 10". Beautiful colors and very tasty! As I was loading the boat, a local gentleman was telling me they had just stocked the lake with some giant bows a few days back so I think that's probably one of them.
