I was exploring some local ponds on foot today out in the Snohomish area, and decided to grab a bite in town. Afterwards, a (surprisingly) empty dock at the Ferguson launch prompted me to throw a line. A couple of footlong planter bows took my spinner , and I had some fun working the pads for hungry Pumpkinseeds. I spent a few minute ripping buzzbaits and Rapalas along the weedlines , but my hunch is that those lunker bass are all preoccupied with their spawning beds right about now, and aren't really looking for big food to eat.

Not too bad for an impromptu shore excursion. I may take the 12' smokercraft out there tomorrow and do some real business .

I have a tendency to forget my fishing roots , which was all about shore fishing.... and didn't involve boats, sonar, or trolling. It's good to go home to that , occasionally.
