Amazing sunny and warm day on the lake !! Got to finally try out my new 12' Valco on the first real fishing excursion of the season... Hit the water about 8am, and trolled around for the first 45 minutes or so with the fish finder to try and see what we could see, as this was the first time on North Lake for my buddy and myself...Decided to anchor in one of the deeper areas on the Eastern side of the lake, about 40 yards off shore in about 25 feet of water... Both of us decided to fish off the bottom, and used chartreuse colored Power Eggs on about a 3 foot leader... My buddy had 3 eggs on a hook, and I was using only 2... We also used the Power Bait liquid trout attractant... I swear that stuff is magic !! We call it "the goo" !! Most all our casts were 20 to 40 feet out towards the shore... The hits were hot & heavy from the git go, and we had 5 fish in the boat within the first hour or so, but there were several that got off the line before we got them in the boat as well... I am assuming they were mostly the new stockers, as they were all about 10 inches long... Finally my buddy landed a 12 incher, so we decided to "get picky" and release anything smaller than that... Can't say I have ever had THAT problem !! The bite stayed hot & heavy till we both had to answer natures call at about 12:30... Went back out for another hour or so and they were still biting some, but it definitely had slowed way down... We ended up taking home 7 fish total, and probably released another 20 or so !! Also got to see some eagles catching several fish as well !! Such a beautiful site !! Lot's of people out trolling as well and also catching fish, so it was just one of those magical days, I guess !! I will definitely be back to fish this lake again !!
