Went to St. Claire for the first time this year. Water temp ranged from 52 on main lake to 54 back in the fingers. Caught 6 bass, nothing big. Had only one bite on main lake. All were caught back in the fingers. Anyway, nice day to be on the water. For those trout fishermen, saw lots of trout rising.

Thanks for the report. St. Clair is a lake that I have always enjoyed fishing but have never really done very well at. I will not fish it for a year or two and then try it two or three times in a row and then not go back for some time.

how deep of water did you catch the bass in. I went out on saturday and just trolled around and hit a few trout.
I hear your arniejl i love the lake and love the 5 mph limit on the lake but never have had the greatest luck there. But there is nothing like taking out the little 12ft boat on the hottest day of the year and not worry about big wakes and jet skis flying by.

niejl, it's hard to go wrong just chucking the shorelines with a weightless Senco type worm in the 4 inch range. Watermellonseed is a great color. Scarlin, that's exactly what I was doing was fishing shallow. A little food for thought. A friend of mine once scuba dived in Ohop Lake, which has just about the same water clarity as St. Claire. He said that at 14 feet it was so dark he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. That's why I don't fish deep on stain-watered lakes.

appreciate it pretty new to the art of catching bass and I cant say ive had the best luck, not the worse but feel like I could be getting on more fish more often if I had a better clue.

One endless source of bass fishing tips are found on YouTube. I watch them all the time. It seems I'm always learning something new.
