It's been a long time since I've posted a report and this report is several weeks late but I felt like posting anyways.

After suffering from a severe case of cabin fever all winter long, I was desperate to catch my first fish in Washington for 2013. I found out on Friday (3/22) that Green Lake had been stocked earlier in the week with a lot of bows so I was excited to go and have some fun.

I arrived in the afternoon and there were tons of people fishing. The hatchery bows were being caught left and right by shore bound and offshore anglers. I was seeing them caught with powerbait on the bottom, worms under a float, and of course artificial lures. There were even people in float tubes/kayaks that were fly fishing and doing well. The most productive lure that I saw in action was a silver kastmaster.

I always had my best luck throwing inline spinners so I started off with a 1/4 oz roostertail. I was throwing that on 8 lb mono spooled on my shimano curado 51e mounted on my 7' mh powell diesel glass crankbait rod. When it comes to trout fishing, I absolutely cannot stand bait fishing and waiting for bites. I'm more of a chuck and wind, power fishing type of guy. So I began fan casting from one of the docks on the south end. I wasn't surprised when it took over 50 casts to get my first bite. It had already been several days so I was sure that the trout had seen countless lures.

I didn't stay very long at all but still caught a handful of fish. If I remember correctly, I caught 5 on a Roostertail, 1 on a Kastmaster, and 1 on a 1/8 oz Spro Phat Fly which is a hair jig. Trying to cast that 1/8 oz hair jig with a baitcaster was nearly impossible to get any decent distance but I managed to get by with it.

I saw several trips being caught but it seemed like they preferred to eat a worm under a float. I didn't see any being caught on lures that day.

I don't have pictures this time as I didn't bother taking any. But I do have some footage of catching 5 of them. Enjoy!
