We hadn't been out to Cassidy in a while so I figured we'd give it a look. Nice weather , calm winds and periods of sun mixed with clouds. Launched at around 3pm and fished till twilight , trolling small hardware, with trout being the target. I also dragged a 2" Rapala floater on the second rod , kinda hoping an early-bird Crappie or Bass might be hungry for a (fake) fish dinner. Fairly steady action on the trout rods, probably 10-12 Rainbows released , something happening every 15-20 minutes or so , no trophies but rather the typical .8 pound stockers , with one nice fat 15" guy tossed in there . Totally random trolling, just meandering around at all depths and watching for fish on the sounder at first, then basically circling the lake fairly close to shore after the trout started showing up. Nothing on the Rapala , although it did get one good hit (probably a trout) . I had some red wigglers on hand and fully intended to anchor up and soak a few for Panfish , but the trout action was steady enough to keep us busy, and next thing you know, it's time to head back to the launch.
Cassidy is fairly close to home for me, but I have neglected to really learn it over the years. I want to get into some good Crappie fishing this Spring, and have heard it's got a nice population of decent sized fish available , and would be grateful for any advice for success .... presentation, hot spots, etc.
I'm a catch and release guy so no worries about the resource , thanks in advance.
