Only caught a few fish but did catch a trophy wile I was at it. Water temps started out at about 50 and then got as high as 53. Spent most of the day flipping docks as the sun came out and started warming up. Caught my new personal best right away in the morning. She was under a dock in about 5-10ft of water. Flipped out to a dock that was flush with the water and let it drop...reeled up the little slack I had in my line and she must have scooped up my jig as soon as it hit bottom or on the fall because I never even felt the bite. All of a sudden the line started moving a little and BAM hook set and she was landed in a minute or so. Another boat came by and got the picture for me and they also weighed her just to make sure my scale was spot on....final weight 8lbs 8oz. Oh and caught a few 2-3lb smallies as well. All C&R....it was tempting to keep the pig but she is worth so much more in the water..rather than on my wall!!!

Great job, great fish! I always love the feeling of letting a big fish go, and besides, with a length and girth measurement she could still be mounted, it just would not really be her:)

Tempting to keep fer sure! Glad you let her live. Don't the replica's serve the same purpose? And look as good?

A replica would totally be fine with me...but sadly did not have a tape measure to get good measurements.

Great fish. You might try to recatch that fish in a month or two. I was reading somewhere a few days ago and the article mentioned that the Washington Smallie record was 8lb 9 oz. By the way where are the official state records listed? Should be in the regs but I couldn't find them.

Yeah, I was a lil skeptical on the 8lbs as well but on two scales she went well over 8lbs....so either by chance two scales read incorrectly within a few oz's or....she was actually 8lbs hahaha.
