Had to fish. Been too long, soooo...

Went to 3 lakes in the Evergreen area, and spent a pleasant hour and a half on Burke. Caught about 40 panfish at Evergreen (Main road not open), all kind of small. 6 were crappie. Burke yielded 16 or 17 trout, one big brooder, all tossed back. Okay, placed gently back. All caught on jigs and plastics, mostly Jiggy's, but also a couple of new designs I made, which was fun. I saw 7 other trout caught there.

Then I went on a grand tour of crappie spots (total of 11 lakes/streams) and caught about 50 more, all medium small. Worms, and plastics with jigheads.

At Burke I was able to meet Yakivegas and swap stories for a while. Nice rig, Yak. He was launching as I was leaving.

At one point I was daring and stood out over heavy current on a 6" wide abutment of concrete, just to get a better cast at an eddy which held several crappie. I managed not to fall in, but it was touch and go. The drop into icy water would have been an eye opener to say the least. Did I mention I can't swim? Yes, it would have been at least a foot drop into 4" deep water, with a sandy bottom.

Also caught 6 sculpins, much to the amusement of some Russian speaking fishermen nearby.

Beautiful weather, medium bite, mostly small fish. If the fish were bigger, it would have been a 5. And I finally plugged that slow leak in the pontoon!

It's like a "fishinChristian World Tour 2013". Not sure I ever had the patience to hit more than about two or three bodies of water in a day.

I didn't realize Evergreen held that many spiny rays. Of course, I think they rehabbed that one when I was living on the East Coast, and before that, it was full of 4" perch. Always thought of it as an Alpo McTrout body of water. I may have to check it out.

And I sympathize with the pontoon issue - I'm wishing I'd put my money into a jon boat, rather than a pontoon (like jiggy did) - the latter are too susceptible to leaks. It took me months to finally iron out the issues associated with my first leak. The manufacturers need to make those outer fabric shells out of Kevlar, rather than nylon. My pontoons are all torn up, and I've been pretty careful about not dragging it over rocks, logs, etc.

Rocky: Where is up your way at? And I've lasted 57 years without being able to swim, so, might have a day or 2 left.... Lord willing...

Tluedeke: Actually Evergreen is pretty good for bass, walleye and panfish at times. Late summer it gets covered with Yellow Jackets, but other than that is fun. The irony is when Jiggy gets well enough, we are going to seal the leaks in his jon boat. Truck bed liner pretty much seals any riveted boat, and quiets the inside. Kevlar is a good idea, but I bet it would be expensive. You could duck behind it if someone shot at you, too!
The 11 bodies of water were fairly near each other, and I can really move when motivated when I am alone with the light rig. Big boat? One a day.

It's all God's country, far as I'm concerned. Sounds good, but Jiggy is a bit lame (literally, not figuratively like normal...) so it might be a while. We could certainly meet half way. When is that show?

I shouldn't be too sarcastic. Before my pontoon boat days, I usually hit Stan Coffin, H, Cup, Evergreen, Burke, Cliff, and several other unnamed lakes. That is, until I found something that worked for spiny rays.

tluedeke: Yeah, I kind of avoid Evergreen in late summer when they get aggressive, but I'm allergic, so... If you're out on the water, it's not bad.
Rocky: Thanks for the info.
Jiggy: Glad to hear your up and about. Thought you shouldn't be, or I'd of asked you along. Not so lame after all! Burke was kicking out the trout, but the rest were medium action on the panfish. Still, any day with around 100 fish ain't bad.
