What a great day to be back fishing! Some of you probably thought I died or something, I was doing 2 reports a weeks to nothing last week. Well I tore my MCL and chipped a piece of my femur or some bone in my leg. Today was the first day I could get back to fishing.
It was a great first day back I got my limit and saw lots of other fish caught too.
The weather was great it was a little cold but not much wind and the water was almost glass the whole time on the water.
It took about 3 hours to get the limit, the first 3 came very quickly and 1 came on the first cast. The last 2 fish took the remaining amount of time. The last 2 fish were both 15 inches (they are the ones in the top of the picture) the fish on the bottom is a 16 incher that a friend caught this morning also.
I have been looking at every fish very closely after the all the talking about cutthroats in American and I would like to point out in the picture (picture does not show very well but obvious in real life) that the top fishes mouth goes past his eye but has no pink or red on the side like a cut but the fish on the bottoms mouth clearly does not go past its eye and looks like it has markings of a cutt. Just thought I would throw that tidbet of info out there. Either way you look at it catching fish in Dec-Feb this year has been amazing!
still using the exact same setup since the begging of December 6ft leader, size 6 red hook, 2 power eggs (either lemon lime or yellow), garlic scent, 1/2 ounce egg sinker, and a little patience.
I saw lots of boats out this weekend hopefully someone else has something to report.
Good luck to everyone and hope to see lots of great reports from American Lake
