Got the bug now to figure out this fishery as last weekend only produced one bite, one fish. Like others thought, it looked like the forecast was going to be decent, but it turned out to remain foggy. Fished Thorton Creek, I-90 bridge, and South Point and all I could scratch out was one 15" blackmouth pictured before the release. The fish took a double glow hoochie at the east end of I-90 bridge. Others I spoke to on the water caught cutts. Looks like I have lots to learn. Still a nice day on the water.

hey at least you got one to the boat! I hit it this afternoon and went for a nice boat ride. It is a tough fishery but if you put in your time, you will get rewarded!

The dead of winter marks the doledrums for cutt fishing on Lake Washington. The water is cold, slowing down their metabolism and the larger fish have either finished spawning or are in the process of spawning. Luckily, you can still pick up other species while targeting cutts or vice versa. This looks like it may be a banner year for resident chinook and coho, so come summer, you may get some serious takedowns along the bridges and open waters.
