Hello, WALakers. It has been a while since I have fished, and even longer since I have reported.

Got bored of puttering around the house today. So I put together a mini tackle box, grabbed a spinning rod, and walked to Green Lake for some more walking and casting. Before I got to the lake, it began to drizzle. 40 degrees, breezy and drizzle, but beat being at home.

Started casting just north of the 64th street t-dock, about 10:30, and worked my way south and clockwise with a large orange and silver Kastmaster. Talked to a few other anglers who we all getting nothing. About noon, a bit south of duck island, at the start of a slow retrieve, my line tightens up! I crank it and yank it some to see if it is a stick or a fish. Fortunately, I get the joy of a fish tugging against me, and a few head shakes. Fish on! After a decent fight, keeping it away from some shoreline reeds, I land about a 15 inch rainbow trout. Heaven.

I take a quick photo. The flopping fish attracts a couple of dogs on walks, who had to be held back. Decided to release the fish. Revived it, and off it swam, with a hole in its mouth, in the center of its lower jaw.

Continued walking and casting clockwise around the lake. The wind picked up, and I got hungry, so hopped on a city bus towards home. Felt great to get out! :+)

Urban, what bus takes you to and from the mean Green? I had toyed with the idea of city transit as the vehicle for transport to Green lake.

Thanks, y'all. Looks like I barely missed you on the boat rental t-dock, Gort. That was the last place I fished, and there was nobody on the dock. The weather was getting nastier, by then, at maybe 1:15 pm, so I called it a day. MotoBoat, I took bus #48 which got me most the way home. I know the 16 and 26 also run close, through the that 5-way stop where Starbucks is. Looking online, looks like a 316 or a 358 may also work.

I am familiar with the 358, but non of the other buses mentioned. Three-five-eight is well known by it regular riders, as the "STINKY BUS". Something to do with the Methadone clinics located along the route. I will look into the bus route's mentioned.
