We put in at 9am with high hopes and left at 4pm thinking "who fishes for bass in December in a hurricane?" Not quite a hurricane but at one point i noticed the gps said we were drifting at 1.9 mph. The wind blew constantly except between 3pm and 4pm it was glass, then it started again just before we left.
Marked lots of fish in 6' to 12' of water suspended just above the weeds but they all had lock jaw. The water was 38 degrees. Started off throwing spinner baits, swim baits and suspending husky jerks. Then we tried jigs and plastics. Finally,
around 1:30, I get a good strike and land a 3lb 12oz largemouth. Texas rigged lizard did the trick. Hit hard and fought well for such cold water. That was it all day, one hit, one fish. Still, I'll take a day of casting practice over TV or chores everytime!
