On the water at 0600 and baited by flashlight. Just as it got light enough to see, the DR went to 39' in 60+ water. Half way between the launch and Silcox, bam - a 15" koke! Re-set and doubled back and another koke! A 17", 10" girth and 1 lb 15 oz on the digital scale. My new personal best!! I only got those two today, but the day gets a 5 rating!
Both were caught with a new 6" dodger I picked up Friday at Sportsmans Whs. in Puyallup. It just looked like it could call kokanee! I don't know what it is called, but Rocky Mtn. makes it. Lure was a pink Shasta Tackle UV Wiggle Hoochie re-tied with sickle hooks, 18" leader and tipped with herring oil-soaked shoepeg and white maggot. The bigger dodger may account for meter traces showing fish rising and falling to 39'. I have seen a few risers on the meter in the past, but not fish dropping to DR depth. The guy in the only other boat around wanted to know what I was using and I told him my setup. He went to the bigger dodger and the next time we met he had caught a 15" koke.
The location map isn't working, but both were caught on the southwest side of Silcox on a track from the WDFW launch toward the VA in 60'-63' of water. Cooler lid in photos is 18" wide.
