Got to the lake and lines wet around 5. Fishing was slow until the sun started to set, and then the bite was on. Marked fish all along the bottom, within 5 feet from and they were hungry come sunset. Got my limit in about 40 minutes after the bite started. The cutting board in the pic is a little more than 12" wide, just to give some perspective. The biggest is a little shy of 13" and the smallest was around 10". Definitely not a bad day for being so late in the season, but they are starting to get a little hook-nosed. Got me some beautiful shiners with orange meat for smoker fodder. Would have given it a 5 but I sat around with nothing until the bite switch turned on. Good luck and tight lines.

Nice fish gfakkema! Do you know if they'll actually breed in the shallows of the lake or just turn and die off?

I am not sure. I was marking them all fairly shallow considering how warm the water is. I marked them all in less than 30ft of water and all within 5 feet from bottom. I found that 20' on the rigger in 25'-30' of water was the magic number so that I didn't get snagged on weeds every 2 seconds. I think that they may be breeding in the shallows, because they were definitely all schooled up in one area (my finder was going berzerk!). I trolled the entire lake, within 50' from the bank and made a few passes up the gut and only marked one or two fish before I found them. I had made a few passes over that spot before 7pm and marked one or two, and then after 7pm my finder was lighting up. Not sure if they were just so close to bottom that my finder didn't see them before or if they had all moved to that spot after the sun started setting.

They are out there. I got one last week that was a little shy of 15". Biggest I've ever caught here before. Meant to make a report but I got waaay to busy at work and kind of forgot to. The fishing at angle is definitely hit or miss. It really helps to have a rigger and a finder if you want to chase them kokes. PM me if you want any help.
