This was my first time here so it was mostly an exploration trip in my Hobie Revo 11 kayak. Mostly trolled, but threw a fly near the structure on the east side of the lake. Caught a bunch of small perch and squawfish trolling a black wooley bugger, then switched to a yellow wedding ring on the spinning rod for the troll back to the takeout place. Action was consistant, but fish were mighty small. Still fun to catch on the light gear though. Lots of weeds in water lesss than 10 ft deep, but I put up with them in case something lurking there. I didn't see any sign of salmon yet, but I never got deeper than 25 ft of water. The lake opens up on Aug 15. Toured up the Sammamish River and no fish showing there. The weather was excellent and I had a good time breaking the fishing gear on my new Hobie.

I was out on the lake over a month ago targeting cutthroat and hooked into four sockeye that day with a buddy, all released of course, so there are salmon in there. Haven't been out since, sad but true, planning on going out for some kings this weekend. But you're right about the kings, none in there, so everyone should just stay home.

Regs say the salmon opens on the 16th, don't get caught fishing and catching them on the 15th.

Whew! Thanks for the reminder. I was just looking up the regs to see what was legal where the restricted area were. I wonder if I can go back and edit my original post and get it right so as not to mislead others?

Not to worry, people read the report, they should also read the comments, but maybe Mike or Aaron can/will change it in the report.

Also the regs say "100 yards" , USED to be '1,000 feet'. I wonder when they changed that?
