Had a great day on Tapps. Fished from 6:15 till 11:00. It stayed cloudy, and the lake stayed flat. Caught 17 smallmouth, the the largest weighing 3-4. Also had four in the 2 lb plus range. Fish were very active at around 18 ft. Infact on one occasion caught six smallmouth on six drops without moving the boat. And while playing the first two fish, there were other fish following them around while they were fighting. Crazy!! Fun day.

I am sure we crossed pathes yesterday. I was nice out there. Nice fishing.

Thank you. If you saw a boat out in the middle of the lake across from the North Park boat launch, that was me. I moved out there around seven, and stayed there till after ten. Weather wise, today is a carbon copy of yesterday. Wish I could be out there.

Same but have work to do. I was in a blue Bayliner bass boat. I think I saw you. We went out and around the first point to the left.

Yep. I saw ya. I was where I said, off to your right as you went by. The reason I noticed you is that a friend of mine used to have a Bayliner bassboat, and you don't see many around anymore.

I've never fished Tapps and would love to try for some Tiger Musky and bass. Can you give me an idea of some good places to start? Thanks!

Know absolutely nothing about tiger musky. As far as smallmouth, this time of the year, find drop offs. (Hope you have a graph recorder.) Whether they be somewhere off a shoreline, or a point, ridge, or underwater island, thats where to look. You can always find the dink smallmouth shallow. But the bigger ones are now out on these drops in 18 plus feet of water. And, as the summer goes on into fall they will move even deeper. But always off steep drops in bottom depth. At these depth they will congrigate around stumps and rocky bottoms. There are many such places around the lake. Drop shot and Carolina rigs are always good when fishing deep water. And, whenever in doubt, go green. Hope that helps.
