Where is everybody? Had the whole lake to myself. Fished Sammamish last Friday and Monday of this week. Both days caught a bunch of fish. Loads of Kokanee of course, but caught some big rainbows and some really nice cutthroats. Used wedding rings flasher and chunk of worm, green hoochie with flasher, mini cut plug with flasher. Kokanee are a blast on light tackle!!!! Downriggers at about 45-65 feet about 30-40 feet back. Lots of doubles. Cuts arent near as fat as Lk Washington but what the heck. As usual turned them all loose with a kiss.

A guy told me there are no rainbow in Samm, and if you get one, it's a steelhead. True?

There are rainbows in the lake, they just don't typically inhabit the same areas and sections of the water column as do the cutts and kokes. According to the State any rainbow over 20" long caught on or between July 1 and November 30 are not steelhead, I guess they don't want any summer runs in the system. I doubt that many steelhead exist in the Sammamish system anymore since they stopped producing them at the hatchery many years ago.

there are a few steelhead in sammamish. My buddy caught one a couple years ago. Giant 15 pounder too. It had to be a steelhead. It was a rainbow with a GIANT red stripe down the side in typical steelhead fashion during the winter time. Had to have made it out to the ocean. Had the look. anyone know if the bass fishing is picking up yet?
