I have fished saywer and had minimal luck. I have heard numerous people who have had a lot of success there. What kind of crankbait are you using? A fat lip deep diver or a lipless style. And what general areas are you finding them? Near docks, shoreline, open water? I dont have a fishfinder so determining depth and finding dropoffs are tough for me. I have had some success this year, but have not had a day with numerous fish. I am just looking to hook into 4-5 fish even if they are only a pound or two. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

As I've mentioned in my last/other report from the other day, I can catch fish anywhere on the lake at any given time/day, BUT I can also still get skunked any given day or time of day. Even tho I've been fishing Sawyer since '73 or '74, I have my problems every year, never any guarantees. lol

I prefer to fish shallow with shallow crankbaits, spinnerbait, topwater, and worm types under and around docks, pads, inside and outside weedlines. Today I caught one way inside a padline, narrow space between the pads and shoreline, small, but fun fish. Another was inside the pads, but lots more room inside those. Both on a crankbait.

I use both a smallish crankbait with big/long/wide lip, and big crankbaits with big lips for deep fishing. I catch more with the smaller cranks.

I like shallow cranks with narrow lips, mostly with a quick wobble. Dragging them slow seems better for me.

Rattle trap types will catch fish shallow and deep.

Any crankbait will work, I don't usually use a rattletrap, but have had success with them. And yes I've had big fish throw them also, as they can do with any crankbait, or other lure, the heavier the lure, the easier the Bass can throw them.

The 5 to 6 pounder that came off yesterday was in 4 foot of water. I can't say more as it would be way too easy to find that spot if I even suggest what was around that area. I still want to try to catch her. She'll come back and I just might be there when she does.

I've caught big Bass all over that lake, just have to keep trying, and hope that you'll be there when they are, and when theyy are hungry.

Luck is a combination of proper equipment and planning. Timing is always luck. lol

Thanks for the reply, I plan on giving it a go tomorrow and I will definately reach fo the crank bait early and often. All the fish I have. Aught this year have been on soft plastics do that is what I keep going to. Maybe my fortunes will change. Thanks again
