Fished Horseshoe for the first time. Read about the potential for catching kokes and Mackinaw in the deep areas as well as bass in the shallows. Weather was great, sunny and in the 70's. Marked fish of all sizes in large numbers all over the lake on the fishfinder. Spent the first 2-3 hours trolling near the public boat ramp with wedding rings with combinations of maggots corn and worms, Rapalas, and trolling flies at 2 to 6 colors of leaded line. Didn't even get a bump. Went up into the northeast section of the lake, marked lots more fish, and got skunked on jigs, spinner baits and and bottom fishing with the same live baits noted above. Worked some structure in the shallows between the northeast and southeast sections of the lake and hooked and lost a 12" LMB. Trolled the southeast section of the lake with other trolling flies and Rapalas. No action at all. They may have been night feeding. I've found that fishing on many of the lakes in this area goes flat starting in July.
