On June 29th, I went to the Taidnapam Park fishing bridge at Riffe Lake. I had the best time and limited in about 3.5 hours. The silvers have really been plentiful at this spot during the past several weeks. On the day I went there were about 20-30 people fishing off the bridge, a very good turnout. The weather was a bit overcast but the temperature was very pleasant. I started off using worms but the fish have gotten very smart about nibbling around the worm. After a few tries at this, I switched to the Berkeley power eggs, chartreuse color, and boy did the fish start bumping my hook. I'm not too experienced at measuring depth, but can only recommend that if you fish off this bridge: 1) it's not necessary to cast 100 feet from the bridge, as I saw others trying to do - just drop your line straight down or cast very lightly, and 2) sink your line down about 20-30 feet, and very slowly bring up your line and wait for a few minutes. The salmon are everywhere right now around this bridge. I plan to go back next week. The meat is nice and pink and the fish I caught appeared very healthy. It was so much fun!
