I had a great time with my son at Deep Lake. Targeted bass, finally found a couple nice ones cruising but could not get a good bite. One mouthed a Havoc Pit Boss but I could not get the hook set. I also had a nice rainbow on with a skirted double tail grub but lost it at the surface. That's the third time I've caught a trout while bottom fishing for bass with soft plastics. We also caught a decent trout while trolling a small cranking minnow. A bald eagle came down and had a very close look at the fish while I was reeling it in. The bird surprised us both but made our day.
