The original plan was to go to Skagit County and fish McMurray however due to last hour plans and a very late start that was put aside and Blackmans Lake became the "option" of the day.
My friend and I had heard great things about Blackmans Lake so we both decided we had to fish it. Great day weather wise We launched out of Ferguson Park and were somewhat surprised at how shallow the launch area was. Friend forgot to grab his cigarettes and was upset with that part (but I got a smoke free fishing trip). First pass around the lake we each had 3 or so hits, no landings. I finally land my first one about 13 inch. Second quickly followed. I switched at that point to spinners, then spinner bait, then a dick night. I had a few on the Dick Night Chartreuse Green one, one was felt larger than the others but I'd lose it right at the boat. Target fish for the day were rainbow but we caught a cut throat as well. No photos taken as the cell phone was left in the car.
Most of the hits were near Hill park.
Fish were bright in color, clean, and the water was very clear. We both commented on this after fishing Ballinger the week before and catching fish with growths/parasites.
By the end of the day we each landed our 3 fish. Losts a ton. Had to work hard for the final fish as they would hit the gear really light yet take everything including the worm with them.
This could be my last trout trip for awhile as I will start putting my effort into salmon.
