Chelan is still producing good numbers of Lakers for us! Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Devin Coonan and Jason Ludeman, some hometown friends of mine. We started our trip this moring up at the Yacht club and found a great bite. Most of the fish were small though and the wind was making speed control a little difficult, so we decided to pack up and head to the lower basin. We started at the top of Mack Bar and worked our way torward Rocky Point. The bite was ON at the Bar and we landed 5 or 6 fish on our first pass. The Ace Hi-Fly and Smile Blade combo was the hot item again for us. Kept our speed right around 1.3 to 1.4 mph for most of the day. By about 11:30 we had caught 12 fish and the guys decided it was time to go chase the Kokes around for a while. There were quite a few boats on the water and we joined in right around the Blue Roof Condos. It didnt take long to find out that the fish had moved out into the deeper water. We found most of our fish in 90 to 150 ft of water. The big schools of Kokanee seemed to be either right on the bottom or at about 40 to 50 feet down, so we stacked our lines accordingly and hooked several fish at both depths. Our set-up for Kokanee consisted of the Mack's Lure Double D Dodger, followed by a rubber snubber, and finally a Macks Lure Cha Cha squidder or Double Whammy Kokanee Pro. Biggest Koke today was just under 16 inches! If you haven't been on the water for Kokanee yet or are thinking about it... go do it!! We had a great time!
