After enjoying an awesome morning of crappie fishing with Gordy and Wally, I trucked on over to Moses to drop see my cuz, Mighty Myster aka Kav Bolser to do a walleye or smallmouth fishing excursion on Moses lake. Kav recently had the misfortune of having his fishing rods and tackle box stolen, so I put together an Ugly stick ultralite rod, shimano spinning reel and a box of grubs, tubes and crank baits from my spares at home. It was kind of a "fishin' care package" from cousin Jiggy. And boy did he give that little ultralite a good workout! It was too windy to launch my Jon boat, so Kav and I decided to do a round robin of a bunch of shore spots, so wefished off of the Bank on Moses Lake. With exceptions of Cascade Park and the I 90 bridge, Kav and I caught fish on nearly every windy point we tried. Conully Park, The Mont Lake trestle, Aquatic center culvert and the Penninsula Boat launch dock all provided some decent smallmouth action, with some keeper walleyes to 20" thrown in. Myster picked up a 20" walleye at the Alder fill and I got a solid 3 pound smallie on a 3" Matador Sculpin jig. (my own design...)Those smallmouths love the Matador sculpin in cinnamon/smoke with a pearl belly and a little chartruse on the tail. We fished those baits on 1/8th oz. fire tiger colored jigheads and managed to put together a pretty nice stringer of fish for our effort. I can't wait to get over there there again and give those quality sized Moses Lake smallmouth and walleyes hell in a few weeks. Let me know if you guys want to try out my sculpin jigs. They caught some big fish today for us. Jiggy
